Nokia’s latest Symbian update - the Symbian Anna OS is now available for download
Nokia has released the Symbian Anna OS for Nokia X7, N8, E7, C6-01, E6 and C7 users. It can be downloaded by using the latest version of the Ovi suite – 3.1.1, or using an over-the-air (OTA) network directly from your smartphone.Symbian Anna OS is a step forward from the previous Symbian 3 OS. It is equipped with features such as a new user interface (UI), split-screen messaging and improved Nokia maps.
In addition to that it offers a split-screen view so that you can simultaneously take a look at the threads and webpages or emails you are browsing. It is also equipped with a faster browser that is integrated with the latest softwares.
Nokia provides an improved version of Ovi Maps. This version supports simpler and quicker searches and public transport routes. Along with that you can share your location with other people via social networks, emails or SMSs.
For its business customers, Nokia offers features such as full meeting requests secure encryption of data and secure Internet access.
For the C7 handset, Symbian Anna OS activates the Near-Field Communications (NFC) feature. When you update your C7 to Symbian Anna OS, you can use the NFC feature to enable easy sharing, games, NFC-enabled accessories and NFC tags encoding. Along with that Symbian Anna OS comes equipped with Flashlite 4, Java Runtime 2.2, Qt Mobility 1.1 and Qt 4.7. Although Symbian Anna OS is a much-improved version of the Symbian platform, it still does not match up with leading operating systems such as the Android OS and the iOS.
The Symbian Anna OS official release comes a day after the leak of its successor – the Symbian Belle for N8. This leak effectively renders the official release useless as people can easily download an advanced version for their N8 handsets.
